The mysterious Header toggle button[edit]

When proofreading in the Page: namespace and one has their toolbar turned on [Gadgets | Editing (tab) | Editing toolbar (checkbox)], one will see the button , and clicking it toggles the header/footer on and off. In this space we put the relevant components for top and bottoms of pages by use of the template {{RunningHeader}}, so for example {{RunningHeader|Stanhope|3|Stanhope}} produces

Stanhope
3
Stanhope

I personally have my header/footer set to open in the Page: namespace and I achieved this by activating that option in my Gadgets. — billinghurst sDrewth 23:50, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, billinghurst. And thanks for the pointers btw.
I did wonder how you get the headings. I'm afraid it's still mysterious to me. I see the usual buttons, the > Advanced > Special Characters > Help but not Gadgets.
Top of the page Billinghurst  My talk  My preferences  My watchlist  My contributions Log out under "my preferences" you will find a "Gadgets" link. Each site will present gadgets that they think may be useful for their site.
I see too you've normalised the punctuation spacing, and fitted a line of poetry on one line where in the paper pages there had to be a new line.
The new lines were actually a continuation of the previous line, and the typesetters did it that way due the smaller page width. Being not on paper, it doesn't make sense for us to replicate that when we can continue the line. If one was *not* meant to be a new line, then please do go back and undo that component.
Once, again, thanks for the warm welcome!--Annielogue (talk) 10:06, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
