@Mpaa:Hi there! I don't really have a preference. I chose to use 64800866 because it has a lot more data in its record than the other one (14 nodes instead of 3, 92 alternate name forms instead of 0, etc.) so it looks like the "main" record of the two. I placed a request to have the two records merged, so hopefully there will soon only be one VIAF and one ISNI. In the meantime I'm fine with either one being listed, so feel free to revert the change if you like. Thanks! Tertiaryresources (talk) 23:33, 28 March 2014 (UTC)

Wikidata

Hi @Mpaa:. Thanks for the note! I occasionally add the Wikidata ID to the author template to work around a bug that sometimes crops up: I've been working on creating Wikidata items for Authors ( using categories like this). But sometimes even after I create the Wikidata item and give it a few minutes to propagate, Wikisource refuses to recognize that there is a Wikidata item linked. In cases like this, the sister projects box on the Author page displays both "Sister projects: data item" and underneath that "Search Wikidata". Additionally, the name stays in the category of unconnected Author pages no matter how long I wait. But the workaround is to add the Wikidata ID to the Author template -- for some reason, when I do that Wikisource recognizes that the two are connected. I don't have a screenshot of an instance of this happening, but I'll be happy to make one if you think it will be helpful for troubleshooting. Thanks! N.B.: Author:Karl Anton Baumstark is an example of a page that is still showing up in Category:Author pages not connected to Wikidata even after a Wikidata item has been connected. Tertiaryresources (talk) 18:09, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

I think it is a cache issue. Purge the page (you need to edit your preferences to enable the tab) or try to make a null edit (just edit and save). Your example was fine for me.--Mpaa (talk) 18:16, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

I guess it just forced some "hard" reset in the database or faking that you wanted to retrieve new info...--Mpaa (talk) 18:32, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

It shouldn't be necessary but it won't normally cause any problems (the only case I can imagine is if you add the wrong ID number, which will override the automatic correct link, but that isn't a fatal error and won't effect the sidebar link). It might be useful if the link gets vandalised on the Wikidata end of things (which will stop the automatic link but not the manual link). Purging should solve the update problem but it probably depends on how willing the main server is feeling; it should fix itself in time either way. - AdamBMorgan (talk) 19:58, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
