Much thanks[edit]

My first ignorant question though...what's the red exclamation-mark on my Watched list mean? Sherurcij Collaboration of the Week: Wikisource:Ancient Egypt 15:34, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Come on IRC Danny 15:49, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Great, meanwhile, check out the email I just sent you. Danny 16:16, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Is Wikisourceror the actual term for people who contribute to Wikisource or is it a name you made up for yourself, Wikisource bureacrats, other?

If you could answer on my talk page that would be helpful.

Thanks, Skunkmaster IV 03:50, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Rename request (unsurp)[edit]

Hi guys. I am renaming myself across Wikimedia, from Brian New Zealand (talkcontribs) to Brian (talkcontribs). I could not find the correct page here, so I apologise if I am posting incorrectly on this page. Could a bcrat please consider renaming me here as well? Thanks in advance Brian New Zealand 23:58, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

I moved your comment to Zhaladshar's talk page; he's the local bureaucrat. —{admin} Pathoschild 03:33:19, 09 September 2007 (UTC)
The user "Brian" already exists. I take it Brian New Zealand didn't register that account in mid-July?—Zhaladshar (Talk) 23:03, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Correct, Brian is not me, if possible I would like that account unsurped (as "Brian" has no edits) Brian New Zealand 19:38, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Done.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 19:06, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

I can't help but notice that you're a past editor of Author:Richard Francis Burton - given his fascinating place in literature and knowledge of "exotic" lands at a time when little was known outside of the British Empire, he was chosen as this week's Wikisource:Collaboration of the Week. I was hoping to convince you to spend a little time improving Wikisource's coverage of his historical contributions. If you're stuck for ideas, I could certainly use help formatting (especially footnotes!) the Personal Narrative of a Pilgrimage to Al Madinah and Meccah over the next day or two. Tables in EB1911[edit]

I am getting close to being finished with the Agriculture article in 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica. That will complete volumes 1:1 through 1:7. There are close to forty tables in the third part of the article and I was wondering if I should upload the tables as images or use a wikitable? Please respond on my talk page when you get the chance. Psychless 20:00, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes, the tables are in the Agriculture article. Should I format the tables as wikitables or should I upload them as images from the scanned images. I hope this clarified things. Psychless 02:12, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Ok, I'll make sure to use wikitables. I don't think it should be a problem, as I've worked with this monster on Wikipedia. Thanks, Psychless 23:53, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

The Natural Economic Order[edit]

This work was deleted in 2006, however I think there is no mention of copyright anywhere. It was first published in 1929 and the date of death of the translator is unknown. [1] [2] I would like to undelete and complete this work. Thanks, Yann 19:03, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your answer. Well there is a lengthy debate about it here: Wikisource:Scriptorium#Undeletion_requests?. Regards, Yann 01:34, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Adminship of Jayvdb[edit]

O supremer ruler of Wikisource than I! It has come to my attention that Jayvdb has been nominated for adminship. In the absence of Pathoschild I feel I should bring it to your attention for your final judgment. —Benn Newman (AMDG) 13:17, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

You still do OCR requestS? because getting these done would leave me very indebted to you. Sherurcij Collaboration of the Week: Author:Rabindranath Tagore 02:21, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Proposed deletions[edit]

Just as a heads up, I listed Category:Teachers and Category:Professors, along with Category:Educators. I sugested that these three categories be merged together. (Wanted to let you know, since you created two of these categories.) Wild Wolf 01:09, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

-cat poetry[edit]

Greetings. Why did you removed the poetry category from a collection of poetry in this edit? I add a lot of texts to Wikisource, so I want to make sure I'm doing it right. All the best, —Quadell (talk / swapmeet) 02:41, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

I did it in keeping with current procedure (which, as far as I know, has not changed over the past few months) regarding category naming for poetry. It was decided a while back to not use Category:Poetry and instead opt for Category:Poems in order to maintain consistency. Also, since The Christian Year is not a single poem, I felt it would not be appropriate to add the "Poems" category to the page. Being a collection of poems, it takes more the form of an anthology (so maybe Category:Anthologies might be appropriate?). Since it is a liturgical work as far as I know, I was unsure of whether I should even apply that category since The Christian Year does not serve quite the same function as other poetry anthologies. However, I am probably over-analyzing, and if you think it appropriate, I would agree that it could be categorized as a poetry anthology, thereby giving it recognition for being a poetic work as well.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 03:13, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
That makes sense, thanks. I added Category:Collections of poetry to it. All the best, —Quadell (talk / swapmeet) 11:59, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Wikisource:Administrators#ResidentScholar has been running for a fortnight since he accepted. Could you sort it out, or discuss with BirgitteSB if you think there is some issue. John Vandenberg (chat) 16:05, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

G. K. Chesterton works[edit]

A recently researched understanding of copyright law discovered by Lupo and rehearsed by Quadell in the Scriptorium has revealed there are at least five G. K. Chesterton works that you contributed that are tenatively deemed to be protected under U. S. law. These types of works are usually sent to Wikilivres, the site with a Canadian server with a shorter (in most cases) 50 p.m.a. copyright duration. Yours would be eligible, and if you'd like to participate in the discussion, it is located at WS:COPYVIO#Author:G. K. Chesterton.

ResScholar 08:29, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

P.S. Thank you for the appointment to Wikisource!

Yeah, I know.  :( Chesterton's works have a history of odd copyright status. I added much of those waaaay back when I first started at WS and had no conception of elaborate copyright laws. If they're copyvios then of course they need to be deleted, and it's a shame we'll have to wait around 30 years for them to become PD. Thanks for telling me anyway.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 15:11, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the support and the tips.
