@Xover: Can you help me in creating the Table of Contents; so that I can start working chapter wise. Thanking you.--Rajasekhar1961 (talk) 15:19, 24 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Rajasekhar1961: I'm not sure I understand. What is it you're having trouble with? I've created an example of the sort of formatting involved here: Page:The Katha Sarit Sagara.djvu/7. There's some finickyness with getting such tables to join up properly across pages, but other than that a table of contents is just a page with some formatting like any other. --Xover (talk) 19:33, 24 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Name[edit]

Can I use the book title as The Katha Sarit Sagara to create the subpages for the books and chapters.--Rajasekhar1961 (talk) 11:34, 25 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Rajasekhar1961: For this work we would typically transclude the front matter (title page, table of contents, etc.) onto The Katha Sarit Sagara, and then transclude the chapters into subpages like The Katha Sarit Sagara/Chapter 1, The Katha Sarit Sagara/Chapter 2 (note the arabic instead of roman numerals, by the way), etc.. Other arrangements are possible, but that's a good general rule of thumb that fits most works. --Xover (talk) 11:42, 25 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Xover: I have created chapter 1 section and main book page; can you please check for any errors. Thank you.--Rajasekhar1961 (talk) 06:29, 29 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Rajasekhar1961: I’m on mobile right now so I won’t be able to check properly until next weekend. Sorry. If you don’t hear anything, please assume it has slipped my mind and I would appreciate a reminder (ping me again). One thing I notice even on a cell phone is that you have tried to preserve the original footnote markers in the text. These make little sense in a non-paged medium and when the notes are converted to endnotes. So we usually remove the original markers and only use the defaults provided by Mediawiki. Other than that I didn’t notice any obvious issues. --Xover (talk) 10:14, 29 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Rajasekhar1961: I've had a look and made some changes to the work's main page. See the edit summaries for the reasoning, and feel free to ping me if you need further explanation. Other than those it looks entirely correct (good job!).
Incidentally, while you should always feel free to ping me for any assistance you may need, I am not always able to respond quickly so you may prefer to ask your questions in a common community venue such as Wikisource:Scriptorium/Help. There are more contributors watching for requests there so the responses you get will on average be quicker, and you will get the benefit of more eyes on whatever the problem is. Again, please do not hesitate to ask me directly for whatever you need (I am always happy to help when I can!); I only bring it up because I am not always able to respond promptly and you may get better and faster assistance from the community at large. --Xover (talk) 09:56, 4 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
