Very nice! If this stuff is things that you like, we have lots of these bits in Grove's DMM Index:A Dictionary of Music and Musicians vol 1.djvu. Unfortunately, I simply don't get it. (musically pig iggorant →) — billinghurst sDrewth 09:00, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reference! As far as ignorance, all of us can certainly enjoy the scores now with the "vorbis=1", setting since there is automated conversion to MIDI and a playback button at the bottom even if we don't know the notation... Brettz9 (talk) 10:37, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nice to have another musician around[edit]

Hi, I've noticed your lilypond experiments over the past few days. Looks like you're taking to it like a duck to water. If you'd like some more practice there's a list of pages needing scores to be created in Category:Texts with missing musical scores. Those in DMM are ones that I haven't yet worked out how to do. Alternatively, you could validate the scores we've already created. These can be found at [this page]. The most recently created are at the top of this list. Of course, you may be interested in something completely different, which is just fine. All the best, Beeswaxcandle (talk) 07:12, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much for the encouragement and ideas! I'm afraid though that I'm tied up with a bunch of other projects elsewhere, and my involvement on Wikisource at present I will probably need to confine to Baha'i works. It's a great and exciting step forward though to see the Score extension added and in use on Wikimedia wikis. I hope though that we may eventually see a music-score extension with a client-side approach like VexTab (albeit supporting simultaneous treble and bass and better alignment of lyrics, as "Score" does) enhanced with the likes of MIDI.js so one can preview the notation and sound output without a trip to the server as well as with the ability to generate the notation as scalable and potentially dynamic SVG (e.g., for music notation that gets animated along with the music) rather than merely with PNGs (and of course it would be cool if something like [1] could be provided as an interface for generating notation). But it looks like there is still some way to go for the client-side libraries (even if browser support has already arrived). Brettz9 (talk) 02:10, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
