Sourcing[edit]

For works hosted here, we identify the source of the text copy, either on the associated talk page or in the notes section of the header. The "source" in this sense is the publication information from which the text was directly taken, whether copied by hand from a print publication, or copy-pasted from a website. --EncycloPetey (talk) 01:34, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@EncycloPetey: Thanks! I figured there should probably be a source somewhere, but didn't see somewhere immediately to put it, and wondered if WikiSource might be more relaxed about these things than English Wikipedia is (WikiData is only-slightly-unfairly famous whence I hail for having no standards whatsoever). The illumination is appreciated, and I shall add the source as soon as you clarify one further thing for: I pulled the text out of a work at my disposal that I suppose constitutes an anthology: said anthology states the text to be as printed in another work, which I do not have access to (I don't think), that itself appears to be a collection of Washington's works. Should I cite the collection, the anthology, or both? Compassionate727 (talk) 01:59, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't consider my audience very well when insulting WikiData. I hope you didn't take offense, none was intended. Compassionate727 (T·C) 02:03, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
