Hanuman Chalisa
[edit]Hello. I have seen that our filter has recently blocked you for attempting to add some text on Hanuman Chalisa. This was an apparent mistake; please accept my apology for that. I set the filter so that it does not happen to you again.
However, despite this I have to say that the text which you tried to add is not in scope of Wikisource, and so it would be deleted anyway. Wikisource hosts previously published works which are in the public domain, we do not write articles about these works, as Wikipedia does. For details see WS:What Wikisource includes.
If you wish to add the work itself (not the text about it), you can do it. If possible, we prefer to have the scans of the published work and to proofread them using the profreading extension. For details see Help:Proofreading. If needed, I can help you in any phase of the process.

- Cool, thanks. It is some 500 year old poem, so copyright expired. Is translation or transliteration allowed? Or should I post it in hindi wikisource? Crashed greek (talk) 04:05, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
- If the text is in Hindi, then it belongs to Hindi Wikisource. If the text is a previously published English translation, you can add it to English Wikisource. If it was published in print, the preferred way is to upload scans of the published work to Commons and then to proofread them using the proofreading extension in English Wikisource.
- To give you an example of a proofread work: here is an uploaded scan File:The Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart.pdf, which was proofread at Index:The Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart.pdf, and then transcluded to the main namespace as The Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart (1901).
- Please note that not only the original, but also the translation have to be in public domain in the United States so that the work can be hosted in English Wikisource. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 10:29, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
