Mademoiselle Paula[edit]

I have taken the liberty of transcluding Index:Mdlle Paula, the famous reptile conqueror.pdf to the main namespace as Charles Harte letter to Lionel Walter Rothschild. I noticed this work on your blog, via Planet Wikimedia, and thought I could help. The final transclusion step seems to vex people a lot. I can change the page title if you think this is inappropriate. - AdamBMorgan (talk) 18:42, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Great - thanks! Still getting by head around Wikisource. What is the raw image problem you highlighted? Edwbaker (talk) 18:57, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The {{raw image}} template, and the {{missing image}} template, are just maintenance place-holders to show that the original work has an image at a certain point. In this case, the letterhead. In other works it might be an illustration or a diagram. In general, when there is a missing element like this, we mark the page as problematic to show anyone else that there is something on the page that needs to be fixed (in some cases, people may be patrolling and solve the problem for you). Here I was just following custom while I got the image ready.
I have now extracted the letterhead from the JPEG version and added it to the page. I separated it into two images, a header and a footer, because it seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm afraid I may have been too ambitious and this has severely over-complicated the transcription. I honestly expected it to be simpler when I started, but that didn't work. I think it does now.
Wikisource is usually much simpler than this; I hope I haven't put you off with my over-complications. - AdamBMorgan (talk) 22:07, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
