Works with no license[edit]

I see that you have added several works in the category Hong Kong Extradition Bill. Please note that all works added to English Wikisource must be published in an independent source, and must have a license tag to explain why the work is freely licensed under US Copyright Law. If these conditions are not met, these works will be deleted. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 15:10, 4 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • @Beleg Tâl Thanks your advice. Independent source is similar w:wp:source? Also if the author of the article is anonymous and the article is published in 2019, which copyright tag should I use? Thank You SCP-2000 (talk) 18:14, 4 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
    • @SCP-2000: By an independent source, I mean a "medium that includes peer review or editorial controls" (per WS:WWI), such as a publisher, journal, press release, or similar. This excludes self-published works. As for a copyright tag, you will have to find out what license the anonymous author released the text under. If they did not release the text under a free license, the text is automatically copyrighted and cannot be hosted on Wikisource. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 19:49, 4 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • @SCP-2000: I see that you tagged two of these works with {{PD-ineligible}}. Because these works contain original authorship, they are not ineligible for copyright, and need to be explicitly licensed by the author and the translator. I have removed these incorrect tags. It seems to me that these works are not actually freely licensed, but I'll give you some more time in case you are able to prove me wrong. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 15:35, 6 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

These works have been deleted as violation of copyright. I hope you will continue to contribute to Wikisource in future, if you find freely licensed or public domain works that you are interested in adding. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 12:23, 3 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
