Known as George Routledge & Co (1851–1858), Routledge, Warne & Routledge' (1858–1865), George Routledge & Sons (1865–1947), Routledge & Kegan Paul (1947–)

Publishing company founded in London in 1836 by George Routledge (1812–1888). Acquired J. C. Nimmo Ltd. in 1903 and Kegan Paul, Trench, Trübner & Co. in 1912. Was acquired by International Thomson in 1987, became independent in 1996 and became part of Taylor & Francis in 1998, which is then became part of Informa plc in 2004. Known for its Railway Library in the 19th century and academic publishing in the 20th and 21st.
