Template:Musical score[edit]

We generally do 'not use templates to categorize items. Also, Wikisource never categorizes items by author / composer. We do not support categories for Author. Items should simply be listed on the Author page for that author.

Also, it is really the original scan that should be templated, and original scans should be housed at Commons.

So, there really is no need to spend time creating a complex template for scores. It will probably end up being deleted by the community. --EncycloPetey (talk) 17:43, 24 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, sorry. But we can use this template to categorize music by instruments, country, lyricist, time of creation.Preambulist (talk) 18:04, 24 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
We do not categorize by author (lyricist), and we have so few musical scores that categorizing by instrument is not useful at this time. We already have a function that categorizes works by the period (time) that they were published, and we prefer to categorize works by the date of publication, not by date of creation.
Having an entire template to do all of this becomes a very large and very complicated template. It is much easier to add the two or three needed categories by hand. --EncycloPetey (talk) 18:26, 24 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that this template is the subject of a wider discussion at Wikisource:Proposed deletions#Template:Musical score. Thank you. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 20:11, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
