[edit]I notice your page Diogenes and Alexander. I should point out that new content tends to fall outside the scope of this site, similar pages have been removed or merged elsewhere. I recommend wikibooks as an alternative, the community there is focused on this type of user created material. I mention this so that you may give your time and effort to pages that will be maintained and improved, at a site where people might look for such a thing. The information could also be included at wikipedia, linking longer sections of those authors works here. Your contributions of published material, close to its original form, would be very welcome here. cygnis insignis 16:18, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- You may be right. It seemed something of a grey area - which is why I published it here. It's not supposed to be "new content" - just a collection of classical sources grouped together. Perhaps it's a little too creative for Wikisource though? Really, I just wanted somewhere for the Wikipedia page on w:Diogenes and Alexander to point to, for the sources. - Right, well I nominated Diogenes and Alexander for quick deletion. There is nothing specific on WS:WWI or WS:IO which says such a page is not allowed. But I think on balance you are probably right. Singinglemon (talk) 18:43, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- [Sigh.] I would decline the request, and it is quite apart from the thrust of my comment. Whether it fits those criteria is perhaps arguable, not something I'm interested in; it is pretty simple, it is not what libraries do, and we have no means, or willingness, to create the culture needed for publishing new content. Why not see about developing something at wikipedia, or wikibooks, another alternative is to make something in the Portal namespace here. cygnis insignis 19:26, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi Singinglemon,
I deleted it for now, but I'd be happy to see some other resolution. One option is to create Portal:Diogenes and Alexander, as a collection of links to relevant works in the main space. For examples of what might be done see Portal:Banksia sessilis and Portal:Yagan.

Seems that there has been a similar discussion earlier. Wikisource is for complete works, as per Wikisource:What Wikisource includes. If you are looking to do quotes, you can do so at Wikiquote:. If you wish to build a page in enWS's Portal namespace, which is a space with a little more latitude and research, then we can look to undertake some things, however, what you have is not really the function of enWS. — billinghurst sDrewth 09:58, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Singinglemon. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Singinglemon~enwikisource that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
