Diary[edit]

Hello,

Please see this site. I am one of the editiors of that site. I already placed a link to your grandfather's diary, but is it all right if I copy the whole diary to that site? Yes, please feel free to copy as per the standard Wiki licence. It is my mission to spread grandpa's memories as much as possible. Normally I would prefer linking rather that copying but in this case the text has been developed for 20 years so I expect it to be pretty much final. Diary license[edit]

Hello. There is some additional work that needs to be done in order for us to keep this diary.

1. We need a published copy of the English text to use as a source. Is this the published edition of this text? If so, please upload a copy of this file to Wikimedia Commons. If not, do you have a PDF of the published text you can upload to Wikimedia Commons? We can redact copyrighted material from the PDF file if necessary.

2. We need a free license for the English text. The published copy I linked to above claims that the translation is copyrighted. If you want to release the text under a free license, you will need to either:

  • update your website to confirm that the translation is licensed under a CC BY-SA 3.0 or compatible license, OR
  • contact OTRS to identify yourself as the copyright owner and release the text under a CC BY-SA 3.0 or compatible license.

Hello, thank you for the advice. I will do as you say. Yes, the quoted PDF is the published text. As you have suggested, there are several photos in the book whose copyright I do not own (excluded from the text uploaded to Wikisource) which will have to be redacted from the PDF. Should I just delete them from the PDF or replace them with some "Redacted" placeholder? Svobodat (talk) 18:34, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
