Wikisource translations[edit]
If a translation is added here by the translator, it is considered a Wikisource translation and not by an individual translator. This should be in the Translation: namespace, not Main. Hrishikes (talk) 16:07, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

Tolstoy painting.jpg[edit]
Image files should be uploaded to Commons, and not to Wikisource. The only local files should be scans of hosted works that are in public domain in the United States, but still under copyright in their country of origin. --EncycloPetey (talk) 00:04, 29 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi EarthlyFireFlies,
I've deleted the subpages of Translation:The Kingdom of God is Within You that were created by mistake. For the future, keep in mind that wikipages can be moved to a new name so if you create one in the wrong place that's a much quicker way to correct it (since you can do it yourself rather than wait for an admin to do it). If you do need to have a page deleted you should tag it with the {{sdelete}} template, specifying one of the criteria for speedy deletion from our deletion policy. In cases such as this the most expedient criteria will be "G7. Author's request" (just put {{sdelete|G7}} or {{sdelete|I created this page by mistake}} in the page). When you do that the page will show up on a list that admins check regularly.
I also have some questions about Translation:The Kingdom of God is Within You.
In the notes field you write Originally translated from Russian by Constance Garnett New York, 1894.
Who actually did the translation from Russian, you or Constance Garnett? If it is Garnett's translation then we treat it as any other work; it's only if a foreign language work is translated by a Wikisource contributor (i.e. it is an original translation, not previously published) that we put it in the "Translation:" namespace. The reason for the separate namespace is to flag that this is not a work that has been published by a reputable publisher, translated by an expert, and subject to editorial control, but rather by an anonymous volunteer or multiple volunteers on the Internet. Not so much because user translations are inferior in any way, but more due to Wikisource's core mission which is to transcribe previously published works.
I also notice you wrote Proofread with God’s spirit by EarthlyFireFlies.org, 2020.
This kind of attribution is handled by the page's revision history (the "View history" tab at the top of the page) and should not be in the user-facing parts of the work. If it is a user translation then we set the translator field of the header to "Wikisource" (the default value in the Translation: namespace), and if it is a previously published translation we set it to the translator (in this case presumably Garnett).
Finally, if this was indeed Garnett's translation and you did the proofreading, what was the specific source from which you proofread? Was it a physical copy of the book or a scan? Is there a scan of that particular edition online anywhere? The reason I ask is that in order to ensure accuracy and to make that accuracy validatable for readers our workflow is to upload a scan of the work in question and then proofread it page by page against that scan (the software has special features to enable that, see Help:Adding texts for an overview). --Xover (talk) 08:22, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
