Crude copy in one go - Plates[edit]

@Beeswaxcandle: Thank you for your reply. I found from the same author: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Index:Pal%C3%A6olithic_Man_and_Terramara_Settlements_in_Europe.djvu. Maybe you can have a look at the uploaded Plates, since I've been working on that for the first time. Your feedback is welcome.

Whilst working on it I wondered whether it is possible to download the complete 500+ pages to be proofread in one go. (That would be enormously welcome!)

I've looked across a couple of pages that you've done. They look fine to me. With respect to the question of proofreading the full 500 pages in one large file, the reason we do it one page at time here is so that we can focus on the scan and text side-by-side and make sure that each page is as good as we can make it. OK by me. I was trapped by the item in 'Tools > upload file' (I suggest a change of the menu).

When you click our link for "Upload file", it shows a large red stop sign, with a link to upload at Commons. We cannot remove the local upload completely, because there are some files that must be uploaded here. --EncycloPetey (talk) 19:01, 15 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I still may be confusing to some: Just after the red sign it says: 'All files should be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons except those strictly relevant only to the English Wikisource (such as local project logos, copyright-free image files or OTRS secured user photographs).'

The files I just uploaded for instance, were copyright free and to my opinion linked to a specific Wikisource. I was under the impression they applied therefore. Why not?

I suggest that 'Upload file' may be a too general label for this menu-item, e.g. special uploads (connecting to the general option at 'link for Wikimedia Commons Special:Upload'.). It may 'work' better be included as a sub of Upload File (connecting to Wikimedia Commons: Upload). Upload File. Perhaps this suggestion is worth forwarding to your opinion? No paragraph indent[edit]
