Author:Maxim Alexandrovich Lazarev[edit]

I am very sorry, but the page Author:Maxim Alexandrovich Lazarev was not in scope of English Wikisource, as the author does not seem to have written any work that would be elligible to be hosted here. For this reason it had to be deleted, but I hope it will not discourage you from further contributing. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 21:49, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! If the texts are posted on Wikisource, is it more likely that the page can be returned? Maxscheller (talk) 09:57, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. If a text by the author is added here, then the author page can be renewed od re-created. However, this author was born as late as in 1985 and is still alive, and so it is not very likely that we find a text by him which would be elligible to be hosted here. English Wikisource hosts previously published texts in English that are either in public domain according to US copyright laws or were published under a free licence. If the original text was in a non-English language, then the rules apply for both the original text and the translated text. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 08:47, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Now I have noticed that you tried to add a text from https://zenodo.org/record/6490110 but it was prevented by a spam filter. In such cases you can avoid the filter by writing the link to the source to the work’s talk page (where it belongs anyway) instead of to the main namespace page. However, the license of the work is quite ambiguous. On the right side of the text it says Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (which would be OK), but the pdf below says "© Lazarev M. A." and "© International Academy of Education", which means it is copyrighted and thus not elligible for WS. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 13:53, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have raised the question at Wikisource:Copyright discussions#A revision of subspecies structure of Dorcadion (Cribridorcadion) scabricolle. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 14:03, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! Thank you very much! I wrote a statement on this topic.
Hello! This work is free access! Open access! Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International is even listed at https://zenodo.org/record/6490110 (Zenodo). That is, legal status: protected by copyright, but released into the public domain by the copyright owner. This is common, and such works are considered to be released under a free license.

Wikisource scope[edit]

Hello. Thanks again for contributing here, the field of science that you have chosen for your contributions is very appreciated. However, please take a close look at WS:What Wikisource includes to see what is in our scope. For example Continuing artistic education in Russia at the present stage: problems and prospects. Volume 2 should contain the work itself, not a text about the work. I am very sorry, but it will have to be deleted for that reason. I hope it will not discourage you from further contributing. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 08:14, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Person-based categories[edit]

Wikisource does not have person-based categories, see Wikisource:Deletion_policy#G8. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 08:21, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Thank you very much! Maxscheller (talk) 09:33, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Do you intend to bring in the full text of that document ? -- Beardo (talk) 20:23, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! There is a PDF of the text. Do you think the full text is needed here? Please advise how to do it bette Maxscheller (talk) 06:43, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. Yes, the text should definitely be added in full, we do not host mere extracts. If you wish to continue working, I can help with anything needed. E. g. I suggest creating an index page and proofreading the whole work using the proofread extension, for details see Help:Adding texts adn Help:Proofreading. It may seem a bit complicated, but in fact it is not so. If interested, I can create the index for you. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 12:28, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much!
I've never done this before!
I would be grateful if you could help me with one text!
Then I will do the rest according to your template!
Thank you very much! Maxscheller (talk) 14:32, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the index page: Index:Lazarev 2020a D.scabricolle web.pdf. When you click a page, you will see the scan of the page on the right and the editing window on the left. In the editing window you can edit the OCR text–we usually try to keep the design and formatting of the original document to show the work as presented (within reasonable limits). For details see Wikisource:Style guide. I have proofread two pages as an example. I suggest you starting with some easy pages which do not contain any difficult formatting, leaving the more difficult ones for later. Feel free to ask either me or at WS:Scriptorium/Help whenever you have any questions or need any help. After all the pages are proofread we can transclude them to the main namespace, which I can help with too. -- Jan Kameníček (talk) 19:05, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Page 2 of the scan has a copyright claim. If this work is copyrighted, then it cannot be hosted here. --EncycloPetey (talk) 18:12, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
