Current administrators

Administrators are given access for one year per the Restricted access policy. Regular votes are held to confirm each user's status. Other languages indicate the areas in which the administrators might be able to converse with outside project members, or help provide public domain translations.

Confirmation discussions

Restricted access depends on the continued support of the community. This may be tested by a vote of confidence, in which a simple majority (50%+1) must support the user's continued access for it to be retained. (What access a discussion concerns should be explicitly noted in the discussion's introduction.) Any user may propose a vote of confidence, but at least three established users must support the need for one before it can be called. Such a proposal is made automatically one year after the last scheduled or called proposal (concerning all restricted access).

In the case of an unscheduled (called) proposal, the user may not use the restricted access for any non-trivial action at any time until the vote is closed. A bureaucrat will eventually archive the discussion and, if so decided, request removal of restricted access by a steward.
 —Restricted access policy

A minimum of three established users must oppose below for a confirmation vote to be called. Users are free to indicate support for the administrator, although this has no effect on the outcome. Inactive administrators will automatically lose access unless a majority support continued access.

Politicaljunkie

  • Comment. Activity level meets my definition of active for an user that is contributing to other Wikimedia Foundation projects as well of Wikisource. I do not see the need for a constant level of activity here for an user to be a productive member of this Community. That said, does anyone know if Politicaljunkie is contributing to any other wikis? I did not see any contributions under the same name on the few that I checked. If no contributions are being made on any wikis that Politicaljunkie has accounts, then I would suggest removing the tools until active here again. FloNight (talk) 17:00, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Of interest: Politicaljunie's global contribs. Doesn't look like he's active anywhere, but I also don't think he has a unified login (technically, there's no Politicaljunkie account on Wikiversity; they're transwiki'd contribs), so the link could be misleading. EVula // talk // 19:22, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
See CrossActivity, which shows no recent activity on any Wikimedia wiki. He has one other account on the English Wikipedia, where he has been inactive since 2006, and does not have a global account. —{admin} Pathoschild 23:31:54, 03 October 2008 (UTC)
  • I say keep as admin for another year and see what happens. June isn't all that long ago; he could still be planning to come back. If he doesn't, we can desysop him next year. Angr 16:59, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Technically, Politicaljunkie is not inactive (by our definition of it). I vote for continued adminship for another year and see if he becomes more active.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 18:02, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep As Angr points out, June isn't that long ago, and looking over the contribs, it looks like there's a lot of "coming and going" to his editing schedule. If he is indeed inactive, there's no harm in his having the tools until next year. EVula // talk // 21:45, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Desysop, 10 sysop actions in 12 months isnt active in my books. We have a reconfirmation process if Politicaljunkie intends to return to prior activity levels. John Vandenberg (chat) 07:20, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree with JV. Giggy (talk) 11:19, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • While their last edit was in June, there were only five or so edits in that day, a single day in June. The user contributions log goes back until late 2007 before there's any regular activity. Desysop, if they come back and want the tools, they can re-request (like I did!). Jude (talk) 03:27, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep pretty much per the other keeps. RlevseTalk 01:39, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep If inactivity continues then the tools can be removed at the next review. Durova (talk) 17:34, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Desysop, we have an obligation so that casual users can "contact" any member of our administration team to resolve an issue in a prompt manner and help them. Listing inactive people seems to stymie that purpose. At the same time, like most others, I would have no problem voting to reinstate PoliticalJunkie in the future if/when he returns. Lar

Lar (talkcontribs) SUL - SQL

This is notice of my intent to resign my Wikisource adminship. There were far fewer admins when I stood than there are now. The English Wikisource is growing and prospering nicely, and there is a good community of admins here now, which I have been glad to be a part of. I find I have not really used my adminship here the way I intended, and therefore I think it is appropriate to have it removed, to stand aside for others. So I intend to do just that unless there is some strong objection. ++Lar: t/c 18:36, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you all for the kind words. Let me clear up a couple of things. First, if there truly ever was an emergency, as a steward, I could still step in. Stewards have all the admin rights now plus the rename account right that 'crats have, globally. Stewards as a rule do not use them on wikis with active admins/crats, without either permission, or a clear and pressing need, but the power is there. Second, I'm not going anywhere, I just think that the admin situation here is a lot better than it was a year ago and you don't need me as a "just in case" administrator... with my confirmation coming up next month this seemed a good month to handle that. I really do appreciate the voices of support and I really do like this place. But if you really want to strongarm someone from my family into becoming/staying an admin, I think you have a better candidate in E. Go convince her. (maybe you'll have better luck than I did) :) ++Lar: t/c 19:31, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Lar you have been active at Wikisource:Scriptorium and your adminship on both Wikipedia and Meta, may provide you reason to exercise admin duties here (cross wiki vandalism and such). You are familiar with Wikisource, and stay active enough to pass annual review. There are not enough admins here for 24/7/365 coverage so I would encourage you and the community to work to maintain your admin rights here. Lack of use of the tools do not indicate a need to remove them. Jeepday (talk) 23:58, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm inclined to agree with Jeepday. You're a valuable contributor to the project, and every good admin that we can get, we should keep.
    So I suppose I have to say that I Oppose your retirement. :P EVula // talk // 05:09, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete! Oh wait, wrong page... You're active; there will come a point in time where you need the tools and it will be annoying because you won't have them. I see no reason why you should resign. In fact, I won't let you resign! :p Jude (talk) 03:23, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Durova

Durova (talkcontribs) SUL - SQL

Durova's user page is good overview of her contribs. Durova started by contributing the works of Silence Dogood in July and August this year. Around this time Durova and I started working on a few projects:

  • she found the handwritten notes for what I hope will be the featured text for January.
  • despite being too late for the WS:COTW, she decided that Author:Irving Berlin warranted more attention, and has expanded the list considerably, and has added pagescans throughout the collection.
  • With only a little help from me initially, she went all ragtime on me, creating something like 200 new songs, all with accompanying page scans, and 13 new authors. She now has the process nutted out, and has written a guide in order to help others come and help.

She has added so many songs that her and I are conspiring to have a "Song of the day" which will hopefully become part of the mainpage, and she has committed to keeping it alive!

You will also find she has done the usual vandal fighting already in her short time here. Can we keep her please? John Vandenberg (chat) 06:16, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for the nomination. It's an honor; I accept. Durova (talk) 06:18, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
