Username changing[edit]

Please change my username to User:Stadscykel. I'm changing the username on all Wikimedia projects. Thank you. Parkstad (talk) 16:32, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, I realized that I had no contributions in this particular project. I just went ahead and created a new name. Sorry to bother you. --IIBewegung (talk) 17:18, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Autoreviewer[edit]

Hello. I am fairly new to this project, but I was wondering if I could get Autoreview. I already have patroller rights which is the equivalent to the autoreviewer bit at Commons, and I also have Autoreviewer rights at the English Wikipedia. Thank you. —§ stay (sic)! 10:42, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

At this time, I'm sorry, but no. The Autopatroller group is for users who have "demonstrated an understanding of policy (especially Wikisource:Policies and guidelines and Wikisource:Copyright policy) and have already created a good number of pages according to Wikisource:Style guide" (from Wikisource:Autopatrollers). Once you've established yourself a little bit more and it's apparent you're familiar with our operating procedures, I'll be happy to give you the permission.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 22:10, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I need to tell you something[edit]

I am the most qualified person to caombat vandals. Why? i was one! I have come here to apologize for my past trangressions and to let you know that I have reformed. I have decided to fight vandals and to be the best member of the Wikimedia community I can be, I will not damage these sites again. I've learned that vandalsim does nothing but hurt this site. Please accept my apology! I love me! (talk) 13:44, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure whether this work ever made it to New Texts. If it didn't it probably can do now as it is now validated. — billinghurst sDrewth 16:09, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! No, it never made it on the new texts list.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 20:38, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

St Francis deletion[edit]

So, if Wikisource servers were held outside of America this work could be held? It is only (C) in America yes?B9hummingbirdhoverin'chittychat 17:47, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Most likely. St. Francis is out of copyright in Canada (and likely elsewhere) and is currently being hosted on Wikilivres, a Canadian repository run by a current Wikisource user to host works that we legally can't.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 13:27, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All validated. So if you didn't put it into new texts, then you probably can now. — billinghurst sDrewth 15:45, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot!—Zhaladshar (Talk) 12:12, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bot flag for BenchBot[edit]

Hello! I would like to request a bot flag for User:BenchBot after this discussion in the Scriptorium and a few weeks of operation. Cheers, stephen (talk) 03:20, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Slaporte. I've given BenchBot the flag.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 14:06, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Username Change request[edit]

  • Your Message : There is an account of the name you wish already on Wikisource. It was created October 1, 2008. Was that not created by you? The account has no edits, so if it's not your account, I will usurp it for you.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 18:45, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • My Reply : No,the above mentioned account created on 2008 is not mine ,I have created my first account on 1 sept.2009 on Marathi Wikipedia,so I request it to Usurp that account and Make "Prasannakumar"as unified Login account across all projects.

content labels[edit]

Re: 'without text' I agree, a 'non-empty' page needs its progress noted, the problem is the label notes the proofreading-status. The index is primarily intended to manage text, I suppose, but it functions as a guide to the work-space. And validated is finished according to the coloured ribbon in main space. Finding missing images is a matter of plodding through each page, to see how different editors have used the labels.

I don't discriminate between types of 'content', but I try to accommodate what i see as a cultural view-point on images; i can't win, anyway I mark them causes surprise and distraction :| Cygnis insignis (talk) 14:35, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't quite a surprise or a distraction. I was more just trying to keep with the consistency of the index itself, which already had plates labeled as verified when I went through them. It's just a quirk of my editing that I like to see every page verified unless it truly is a blank page. It's no biggie, though.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 13:30, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ftc[edit]

I improved one of the images, the version at gutenberg used small images too, I went to the larger jpeg file at IA.org and created a coherent image. I believe the community standard has been that a transcript is checked by at least one other user before nomination. I would make a couple other suggestions, but I wonder if you checked with the creator before nominating it? He might not consider ready, there are other potential candidates that could be promoted while this one is being polished up. cygnis insignis 22:32, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It was validated. It's already been checked by two users. Any polishing that needs to be done can be done while it's in FTC discussion, as has happened quite a lot with many of our featured texts. If you know of any other works to promote, nominate them; I'm just filling a void since the month is already half over and there's no definite featured text for September.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 14:44, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'll stand to one side, but reiterate that much of it has only been checked by our colleague. I'm not quibbling over some technicality of FT criteria, I have found a lot of problems with the method of transcription. Featuring this invites users to create a bot, create a new text, then validate it. I've strongly objected to the procedure, and spent a good amount of time tidying up broken, incomplete, and ill matched texts - so now I have a strong opinion. The version is not as good as gutenberg's, not the best we can do, and the ability to do the same to another text is limited to a select few. I chose not to air this at FT, I have previously raised objections and the seems to be regarded as invalid. You may as well blank this, I've had my say cygnis insignis 17:00, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rename user accounts[edit]

Hi!

Could you rename my two user accounts as requested at en.wikipedia? Thanks Helder (talk) 20:03, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Done for both.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 21:59, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Academic papers[edit]

Hello, I have uploaded two of my own papers (logic and meaning... and Mapping Information...) to WikiProject Academic Papers. As there did not seem to be a place to put them I created a new category "information Systems". I left them in "Projects Pending" for a while, then moved them to "Projects needing review". I'm new to this and am not sure that I have been following the correct procedure.

Also I am not sure what happens next. The instructions say "mark them as complete when 2 people have reviewed them". What is the review procedure?

PDF mess[edit]

I uploaded three papers in txt and hypertext format without any problem. But I seem to have made a mess of things trying to upload pdf files. The files:

Index:Witters1.pdf File:Witters1.pdf File:Witters2.pdf

should be deleted (but I do not know how to do this). What I wanted to upload is at

File:SSM to Information Systems.pdf

I wanted to put it at WikiProject Academic Papers/Projects Pending, but don't know how to get it there.

sorry for the trouble. --Logicalgregory (talk) 10:02, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

DJVU mess[edit]

Please delete all files relating to "SSM to information systems: A Wittgensteinian approach". Attempts to enter a scan of this dotmatrix document into the proofreading system have been a complete failure. I have re-typed the paper and want to start again by uploading it directly (as I have done with three other papers).

The paper falls between two stools. It was written using word processing software that no longer exists and can not be converted. The printing is dotmatrix and does not scan well. If it had been produced earlier it would have been well typed and could go scan/OCR. If it have been produced later the files could have been converted. There is a later, better copy, but this is copyright of the publishers.

Sorry for the trouble, but I hope you will bear with me on this. What I am trying to do is find a way to upload modern academic work to Wikisource without breaking global copyright laws. Its not easy, but once I understand the process properly I can recommend that others do the same. --Logicalgregory (talk) 06:04, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can you list the exact files to delete? I can't find any related to what you cited above. Thanks!—Zhaladshar (Talk) 15:23, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again Zhaladshar, I missed your last post and in the interim managed to get the index page and two other pages in the proof reading system deleted using the "rapid delete/upload request" thingy. All that remains is the DJVU files. E.G. http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Page:SSM_to_Information_Systems.djvu/1 this goes on to ...djvu/16. Again sorry for the bother, but it does take some time for us new people to find our way round the system. --Logicalgregory (talk) 13:26, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, it's quite alright.  :) I know there's a bit of a learning curve trying to understand the Proofread system. It seems someone already beat me to the deletions. Do you need the DJVU file deleted as well? If not, I think you're good to go again.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 15:04, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, please delete the djvu files. Then everything is clear, with nothing to confuse me. Thanks --Logicalgregory (talk) 15:44, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The DJVU file File:SSM to Information Systems.djvu is now deleted.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 15:45, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rename request[edit]

Hi Zhaladshar. Could you rename my account, User:Diego Grez, to User:El Muñeco Shakes It Up, Baby? I have some privacy concerns and I need it to be done as soon as possible. Thank you. Diego Grez (talk) 23:56, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 15:48, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I'd just like to draw your attention to my rename request from July :) Thanks, Openstrings (talk) 08:49, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yikes, sorry about the wait. You now have the Sonia account.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 14:47, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again. The reason for having that awful username is not valid anymore. Could you please rename me back to "Diego Grez"? I doubt I will change my username again. Thank you and sorry to disturb you! El Muñeco Shakes It Up, Baby (talk) 02:53, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Done.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 03:02, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Archiving adminship discussions[edit]

Hi BirgitteSB and Zhaladshar. I think the adminship discussions are ready to be archived; do you agree with my doing so as follows? Angr unanimously confirmed, Durova & Zyephyrus retired, and Longfellow's nomination declined. —Pathoschild 19:17:10, 02 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Pathoschild. I agree that Angr is confirmed, but Zyephyrus should be as well (I don't recall a message saying he has retired his admin position, and he is also still active). Durova and EVula should not be confirmed, and Longfellow's nomination did not pass.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 19:32, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Will do. (I meant EVula and wrote Zyephyrus.) —Pathoschild 19:39:49, 02 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks a lot.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 05:08, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Much of that <div> formatting[edit]

A note. Div formatting in class=prose, =lefttext =indented-page no longer functions with transcluded pages (there was some stuff at WS:S about it, though it was not well-announced and explained), though still functions fine in non-transcluded pages. Other classes I don't know. Worse is that when it is done, it hides the top page numbers. We are now meant to have the different layouts through the toggle in the sidebar. — billinghurst sDrewth 02:32, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That was a change I did know about. When I first tried it, though, without the div tag, the footnotes didn't get formatted with the rest of the text, in any of the layouts. So I kept adding the div tags. It apparently works now, so I will use the preferred method.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 03:10, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
