Arraignment of Lewd, Idle, Froward, and Unconstant Women

Notifying all members of Scan Lab (more info · opt out): (User:Inductiveload, User:Xover, User:Mpaa) From IA scan; the pages need to be split and readjusted. TE(æ)A,ea. (talk) 13:38, 21 June 2023 (UTC)

@TE(æ)A,ea.: For once my tools did not fail me at bulk-cropping. File:The Arraignment of Lewd, Idle, Froward, and Unconstant Women (1622).djvu. That's compressed down to bitonal so it's only about ~2.2MB. The result looked ok to me, but if it looks like parts of it are over-compressed (less legible than the original TIFF), I also have a grayscale version clocking in at ~25MB I could upload over it. The OCR is going to be quite lousy, but that's par for the course with 17th-century texts. Xover (talk) 17:34, 21 June 2023 (UTC)

The issue is some clipped scans I don't feel confident getting a good transcription from. Can someone look into getting "unclipped" page scans for this work? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 19:03, 7 June 2023 (UTC)

Okay someone regened new scan , but the pages need re-alignment?

Done, I removed two useless pages at the beginning of the djvu file. Mpaa (talk) 17:24, 7 July 2023 (UTC)

Index:The Innocents Abroad (1869).pdf

This section was archived on a request by: --Xover (talk) 06:32, 31 July 2023 (UTC)

Notifying all members of Scan Lab (more info · opt out): (User:Inductiveload, User:Xover, User:Mpaa) This scan is missing book pages 466 and 467, which need to be inserted, and all followng pages (and text layer) shifted. Scans with those pages exist at Hathi and at Google. The edition is not an exact match, but is the west coast print of the same edition (same year, same edition, but printed in San Francisco instead of Hartford.) The text on the pages preceding and following the pages to be inserted match. --EncycloPetey (talk) 18:21, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

@EncycloPetey: I've patched it into Index:The Innocents Abroad (1869).djvu and moved all the pages over. I think I've found and updated all the references to the old index, but there may still be something lingering somewhere. Xover (talk) 17:05, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
Loks like you got everything but the Styles page, which I've moved over. --EncycloPetey (talk) 18:01, 30 July 2023 (UTC)

The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire volume 2

Notifying all members of Scan Lab (more info · opt out): (User:Inductiveload, User:Xover, User:Mpaa) Is it possible to find a higher quality scan of this work than Index:Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire vol 2 (1897).djvu? This is the Revised edition, edited by J.B. Bury. It is too low quality to be proofread and has a number of cutoff pages. MER-C (talk) 16:28, 8 July 2023 (UTC)

@MER-C: Not exactly what you wanted, but I found a first edition of this. (Commons file) Ciridae (talk) 15:30, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
Thanks - I think it is sufficient. MER-C 17:07, 13 October 2023 (UTC)

"Everywoman's World"

I would like to start scan-backing The Alpine Path whose originally publication was in this Canadian journal. There are scans available here for the installments containing this work:

  • June 1917 [1]
  • July 1917 [2]
  • August 1917 [3]
  • September 1917 [4]
  • October 1917 [5]
  • November 1917 [6] (the first page is listed as missing but the cover is there so it can be just ignored)

Happy to come back after I do each one if you prefer but just listed them all here in one go. They will need to be uploaded locally with PD-US|pubyear=1917 and move to commons|expiry=2037 as being from 1917 and originally published in Canada they are before the 120 year old assumed date. MarkLSteadman (talk) 23:04, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

@MarkLSteadman: I've uploaded the file here: File:Everywoman's World, Volume 7, Number 6.djvu. Create an index and let me know if my pdf to djvu conversion came out okay. I'll upload the rest after that. Ciridae (talk) 06:54, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
@MarkLSteadman: Done. Files are as below:
